Fuyu persimmons are round and squat like a tomato; and crisp like an apple.
They are usually sweet, without any astringency.
You eat them by biting like an apple.
Fuyu persimmons can be enjoyed while they are still firm, or when they soften more, depending on each person’s preference.
They can be enjoyed in salads, baked goods, smoothies, or pretty much any way you like!
Persimmons are also high in soluble dietary fiber, which slows the digestion of carbohydrates, preventing spikes in blood sugar.
The peel of a persimmon contains flavonoids that have proven to have antidiabetic and antioxidant properties.
One component of persimmons, its tannin-rich fiber, has proven particularly effective in treating high cholesterol.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, persimmons moisturize the lungs, relieve coughs, and promote the production of body fluids, helping to keep our bodies hydrated despite the weather.

What does it mean to be sustainable organic orchard?

Sustainability:

The goal of sustainable agriculture is to meet society’s needs in the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

For this reason practitioners of sustainable agriculture seek to integrate three main objectives into their work:

  1. a healthy environment
  2. economic profitability
  3. social and economic equity

We encourage you to learn more about sustainable agriculture.

Organic Farming:

“Organically grown” food is food grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

Instead of relying on chemicals, Organic Farming relies on natural principles like biodiversity and composting to produce healthy, abundant food.

Ethical Cultivation:

We are committed to ethical cultivation of our crops and partnering with nature to grow and harvest the most nutritious, delicious, and healing foods that our land is willing to share with us.

We work with nature and follow its lead.

California has many different microclimates. Our land gifts us fields of rosemary, sage, oregano, lavender, roses, geranium, hibiscus, and succulents. With some additional irrigation, it produces an abundance of lemons, limes, oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, and avocados.

We are constantly amazed how many medicinal and healing plants grow on this land that might appear to the naked eye to be dry and infertile.

Shortening the Path:

We are on a mission to shorten the path from the land to your table by shipping directly to you on the same day that we harvest.

When we get your order, we go out into the fields, harvest, pack, and ship via Fedex Priority Mail, shortening the journey to 2-3 business days and ensuring that you reap the most nutrients and healing benefits from the foods you enjoy.

Most plants are seasonal. To ensure year-round supply we are currently developing dried (dehydrated) fruit, herbs, essential oils, and teas, so that you can continue to enjoy the health benefits and the great taste at any time of year.

We harvest at the peak of ripeness and dehydrate/preserve/process the harvest on the same day to lock in the nutrients.
