Produced in Knox County, Ohio

Custom wood-turned, slanted safety razors. Crafted from reclaimed or repurposed wood personally salvaged by artist Patrick Sullivan. These handles are made from gun stocks, guitar necks, bourbon barrels, and locally salvaged wood. Patrick mills and kiln dries his salvage to ensure stability during turning. Each piece is hand turned, sanded and buffed to a 12,000-grit finish. They are protected with ten layers of water-resistant coating then hand polished for a final time. The end-product is a brilliant one-of-a-kind slant safety razor that anyone can appreciate.

Maybe most of you are like me, you have no idea what a "slant" razor is, even though they have been around for over 100 years. Considered by shaving aficionados as superior to standard safety razors because of their fast and efficient cutting action. These razors are great for folks with sensitive skin, course beards, and/or daily shavers. How do they work? Their slanted blade produces a shearing effect that allows the razor to cut cleaner with less pressure than a conventional safety razor. This reduces pulling on hair follicles and skin irritation. Once you have used your slanted razor a few times, chances are you are not looking back.

We have a limited number of these handcrafted functional works of art. Most of these razor handles are made from 100% reclaimed woods including spalted maple, big leaf maple, gun stock, ash, coffee wood, mahogany guitar necks, and bourbon barrel staves. Each is unique.

Included with your razor is a complimentary double-sided blade so you can start shaving right away. The blade is platinum-coated Japanese stainless steel.

Running Fish Studios

Patrick Sullivan has been a wood turner and artist for over ten years.

We were especially impressed when he told us “I create custom wood-turnings predominantly from reclaimed or repurposed wood that I personally salvage or acquire. The wood is milled and kiln-dried to approximately 8% moisture in my own studio. This process creates a more stable canvas for my work”.

Patrick went on to tell us that his razors are “individually hand-turned, sanded and buffed to 12,000 grit finish.  They are finished with ten coats of water-resistant and protective layers and hand-polished for a final time, creating a brilliant, protective appearance”.

We are ecstatic to bring Patrick's unique and thoughtfully produced wares to you!

Patrick is a member of the American Association of Wood Turners and previously served on the Steering Committee for the local Columbus chapter, authoring numerous articles for their member newsletter.
