Grown by the Rhoads Family! Manager Brett Rhoads is dedicated to producing the fresh, tasty and nutritious food using integrated pest management, rotational cropping, and soil nutrition supplementation and enhancement. On the food safety side, his farming operation is third party audited and certified compliant for USDA mandated Good Agricultural Practices.

Strawberries are very versatile. They are appropriate for sweet and savory applications, both cooked and raw. If substituting for other berries, remember they have a higher moisture content and may need some alterations. Use a natural thickener or reduce before adding to a recipe! Great in on salads or in jams, and jellies. Cook them down into a compote or syrup for drizzling over ice cream and cheesecake or added into beverages and cocktails!

Strawberries are an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamins A, C, E, and the B-complex group as well as minerals such as potassium, manganese, fluorine, copper, iron, and iodine.

Rhoads Farm

In 1958 Circleville, Ohio was the home of an ambitious 9 year old by the name of Brent Rhoads. His family had a small farm, and he decided that he was going to start an open air stand to sell the home grown fruits and vegetables from the farm. His father and mother, Robert and Lurose, along with his grandfather, Bill Friece all pitched in as well. That summer of 1958, Brent was up with the sun, picking corn and making sure that the stand was open by 10:00am. Each evening at dusk, it was closing time. This open air stand became a community fixture, when in 1961 it reached the point where it was time to grow.
A 10′x15′ building at the corner of Hitler Rd. and St. Rt. 56 was the new site for Rhoads Farm Market. In addition to homegrown fruits and vegetables, the family began to offer their own whole hog sausage along with Amish meats and cheeses. Additionally, they began to offer bedding plants.

Eventually, young Brent went off to college, and then served his country in the military. When he returned to Circleville in 1972 along with his new wife, Kathy, he realized it was time for the market to grow once again. By the mid-70′s, Rhoads had become a full service farm market and garden center. The addition of trees, shrubs, mulch, garden supplies and even landscaping served to make Rhoads Farm Market a place where customers could get just about anything they needed for their gardens or their pantries! In 1981 Rhoads Farm Market diversified and entered the wholesale tree nursery business with what is now known as Split Rail Nursery.

With 150 acres of fruits and vegetables that are sold wholesale as well as retail, and 150 acres of shade trees, evergreens, shrubs and Christmas Trees, Rhoads Farm and Split Rail Nursery are dedicated to providing the highest quality products to our customers. We are a G.A.P. Certified produce grower, and take pride in knowing that our customers come back each year.
