When pigs are raised on pasture, with access to natural forage and plenty of sunshine, their meat and fat are also richer in micronutrients, particularly fat-soluble vitamins E and D, as well as minerals like selenium.
We birth all piglets on farm because that way we can make sure our sows are healthy and happy. A healthy and happy mama makes healthy piglets. We care about the wellness of our animals and believe in natural farrowing without the use of farrowing crates. We're involved in every step of the way to ensure the best quality of pork.
Once the piglets are ready to be on their own, we pasture raise them in 55 acres of woods. Allowing pigs to be raised on pasture gives them the opportunity to root naturally and forge for essential nutrients from nuts, berries, and insects not present in commercial feeds. Not only is it beneficial to animals but also to the environment. Foraging and rooting promote new growth in the woods.
Our pigs are a heritage breed; this meaning they have not been genetically modified. They live a full 12 months and mature naturally which produces higher quality pork. Our pigs are raised without the use of hormones, antibiotics, and any other unnecessary medications and chemicals. The pigs receive a farm researched vitamin supply mixed right on the farm.
