Old Mr. Bailiwick's

Old Mr. Bailiwick's in downtown Mount Vernon offers quality bulk herbs, extracts, formulas, art, self-care and wellness items, unique gifts, whimsical curiosities, and a small museum of natural specimens.

Josh and Bix's adventure began in 2012 with the intention to raise medicinal herbs on just 3 acres in the beautiful, rural, and rolling hills of Mount Vernon, Ohio. As of 2019, the dream has evolved into a turn-of-the-century inspired apothecary located at 7 South Gay Street.

Though still growing about 30% of the herbs and plants offered for sale in the shop, the business has expanded to include traditional Chinese, Ayurveda, and globally Western herbs in bulk. They carry several formulations to fit a variety of needs, whether it be medicinal or culinary, and also offer tea and fair trade coffee selections along with the teapots, tea bags, and French presses.

The shop and it's owners are dedicated to promoting an environment that welcomes all levels of herbal knowledge and interest. Through their doors, customers will find a space that encourages individual expression, and welcomes a diverse, whimsical, a-typical, and ever-inquisitive attitude toward life’s many wonders.
